Recorded Jan, 1960 by Sam Phillips at Phillips Studio, this ribald birthday song's magic derives from its filthy, funny theme, and Jerry Lee's performance backed by his original band, whose ebullience liberates it from something recorded "just for fun," played by a faux-sententious, Jerry Lee, to a Killer who, eight-bars-in is back home in his old Natchez spot, storied, infamous, deadly, Blue Cat Club, after stopping by his boyhood peepin' joint across the tracks in Ferriday: his Church of Blues school, Haney's Big House.
You can hear unrestrained freedom in his vocals as they funk-up the studio, recreating teenage titillation, obscene blue lyrics, ultimately abrogated by the final palate-cleansing double-entendre-denial:

And then he played Stephen Foster's "Beautiful Dreamer," followed by Hoagy Carmichaels "Stardust,"
