While locals and tourists in Japan will be celebrating with penis-shaped candies and erecting giant phalluses to promote fertility and prosperity, famed new-york restaurant, Matsuri, is bringing the Japanese Penis festival to the United States on April Fool’s Day.
For one day only, chef Tadashi Ono will be serving up a creative menu in honor of the male phallus. Dishes include a Get it Up Hot Pot, a Big Sausage and a Hard Banana Cream Pie. The restaurant also promises drink specials and other festivities to celebrate Kanamara Matsuri (Festival of the Steel Phallus).
Guests will have to follow a strict Penis Festival dress code that includes free condoms provided by Planned Parenthood and Proper Attire condoms.
Unlike the Guolizhuang restaurant in Beijing that actually specializes in dishes that include real animal penises, Matsuri’s menu is a tongue-in-cheek version. The dishes include sexy ingredients like oysters, sea urchins and sea scallops, but does not feature actual genitalia on the menu.
