Looking for Cormac (McCarthy)
* To the best of my knowledge, this clip is not available to view on the Web presently (it used to be on one of my old YouTube Channels, but went down with the ship and why it's not up on Eric Davie's YT channel, I don't know).HERE'S MY DESCRIPTOR FROM 10? YEARS AGO:
This is the story of three New Yorkers who strike out on a quest in search of the second most reclusive author of our time. It winds its way from the crescent of New Orleans (my Royal St. Balcony) to the home of the author.
The real stars of the film are outsiders, psychics, transients and befuddled, polite southerners, perplexed by this troika of road-weary questers and unsure of the direction which they, nonetheless habitually impart...
Best film i've ever been cut out of (Why didn't they switch with Great Balls of Fire).
These quasi-hip Brooklynites with a penchant for the exotic and mythic weird south as described by Barry Gifford or Barry Hannah, and of course, Mr. McCarthy himself 'give good Jarmusch' and best him here on an arrogant day, if only for their subject and unaffected disaffectedness (i couldn't decide).
*Watch for A.J. 'Sainte-James' Boudreaux (my old Gallery Pardner) in the opening of Pt. 1 (this clip), giving "Columbine" advice about a fellow eccentric.
Marvel at the hungover 'Easy Rider' camerawork of the cameraman as he films an unremarkable marching band parading down Royal Street (from my balcony) in front of the A&P (Now sadly gone), and stick around for street prophets as they try desperately to string three words together that aren't 'Antichrist', 'CIA' or 'radio' in their attempt to answer Eric's off-camera question...

AFTER THE JUMP
Combining influences such "Easy Rider" and "On The Road", Looking For Cormac chronicles a two-week journey, originating in New York City and ending in El Paso, Texas. The film incorporates interviews with authors (i.e. Larry Brown), folk artists (i.e. A.J. Boudreaux), raconteurs, journalists and psychics. Interviewees address topics that range from the nature of fame, the artists place in modern America and myth in popular culture. Cormac McCarthy, his work and penchant for solitude are the center to which interviewees and the filmmakers constantly return.Initially intent on locating the author, the filmmakers begin to question their own motives as they approach their goal. In the end, after 3,000 miles, dozens of interviews and encounters with the law, the filmmakers find themselves within a stone`s throw of the author...
