Tom Ford Addressed Sexual Misconduct Allegations Made Against Terry Richardson
In an interview with The New York Times, Tom Ford addressed the allegations of sexual misconduct previously made against photographer, Terry Richardson.
Speaking with the publication, Ford said he loves Richardson. Addressing accusations made against Richardson, Ford said, "And I have to say that I never in my entire life saw any of that with Terry. One of my assistants went out with Terry for two years and he was the kindest, gentlest person in the relationship.”
In addition to comments regarding Richardson, the designer also talked about the "hyper-politically correct culture" that has caused him to rethink his ads. "I mean, you can’t say anything anymore," he said. "I was shooting an ad campaign last week, and the guy came up behind the girl and was kissing her on the neck and he was holding her wrists from the back and I said, ‘No, no, we have to change that. Put his hand in her hand.’ I don’t know that any of us will survive this scrutiny.”
As pointed out by W, Richardson and Ford previously worked together in the past, including on a 2007 Tom Ford fragrance ad campaign.
In December 2017, models Lindsay Richardson and Caron Bernstein both came forward with accusations of reported sexual assault committed by Richardson. The 2017 allegations followed previous allegations made by others in 2010 and 2014. Richardson has denied the allegations, The Huffington Post reports.
