Doug Meet i lived in miss page's apt. on tenth st. on the L.E.S. for a year. i was aware of her ghost and sometimes felt the dame of the theater controlling my speech. i also lived across from True in the Quarters on Royal St. where he lived for 6 mos. and apparently was very popular with the sailors.

Tav Falco Fascinating, DM. So Ms. Page lived on L. E.S. Always imagined her living in W. 40s. Did not realize TC had lived on Royal St. Seems he cut a wide swath through there in 6 months. I heard TC speak in Memphis in the 70s. Quite impressive.

Doug Meet there is nothing better than hearing TC speak! He also lived in the back quarters much later in the 70s, where he let his freak flag fly, and i was lucky enough to find his caretaker/servant who called himself the mayor, who made my year by giving me a tour of the house and then proceeded to relay debauched stories of True in his late glory dragging fur coats around the pool while sipping high-test drinks. i have a video of true from this period with Charlotte Rampling , let's see if it will tabulate if i write it: dailymotion truman capote charlotte rampling--nope. i'll find it and place it here for your enjoyment: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xc5uu4 
 
never mind, i was thinking of tennessee as one does; however, they were both in the same pickle at the same time with the same new orleans c.v., and no american has ever spoken french with such appreciation than mr. williams.
