Bobby Darin TV Appearances Not only was Bobby Darin a legend in the recording studio and in live performances, he also made many appearances on Television, too. From Drama to comedy to variety programs, Mr. Darin did it all and did it well! Below is a list (not comprehensive) of his many TV appearances, sorted by month. Information on Bobby's appearances on The Tonight Show in the 1970s was obtained by Cathy Hodson doing a search at the Carson site. The Carson site states that some Tonight shows may have been lost, namely ones with guest hosts. I am pretty sure about this, because I remember Bobby guest hosting. I vaguely remember him hosting and interviewing actor Earl Holliman around 1972. Also, I remember Bobby dropping in when his good friend Della Reese was guest hosting in early 1973. He sat on the couch and I believe he sang a song. One thing that I definitely remember is Della asking him, "Bobby does too much sex make you deaf?" and he said "What???"
If anyone can elaborate on these foggy memories of mine or has something else to add about Bobby's Tonight Show appearances, please email me. Thanks! (Note: Bobby also appeared on the TV program Hollywood Backstage, an entertaining collection of newsreel footage from the 1960s that was produced by Rick Spalla. Darin also was the subject of a fabulous documentary Beyond The Song, which first aired on PBS stations in Dec. 1998. Bobby also was the subject of a Mysteries and Scandals on the E! channel that premiered in 1999 and an A&E Biography airing in August 2001 (NOTE: This will be rebroadcast Feb. 28, 2002).
