This image shows artwork of a heart with men exercising in the chambers of the heart. It shows the link with exercise and a healthy heart. The heart is a crucial muscle that controls the flow of blood around the body. As you exercise you use up oxygen provided in the blood, which returns to the heart as deoxygenated blood (shown in blue). This gets pumped to your lungs to become oxygenated. This freshly oxygenated blood (shown in red) comes back to the heart through the major vessel called the aorta to get pumped back around the body to provide energy to the working tissues. When you exercise, your heart beats faster to meet the demand for more blood and oxygen by the muscles of the body. The more you exercise to higher your heart rate.
