According to a recent article in Marie Claire, more professional, career oriented women are turning to marijuana instead of alcohol to unwind after a stressful day at the office. So why are these stiletto stoners lighting up?
According to Dr. Julie Holland in this clip from the Today Show, “It’s very different than alcohol … People are unwinding and they’re relaxing but they’re also able to think and maybe analyze … maybe make some changes in their lives. I think that cannabis … could actually be more helpful than alcohol.”
Dr. Holland acknowledges that, “the fact that it’s illegal is a very big deal … people have to hide and they feel like criminals and there’s a lot of shame and guilt.”
Maybe more weed loving women coming forward is exactly what the movement needs to raise awareness and push toward legalization.
