Blogger infiltrates the Crillon Ball
| posted Dec 2, 2009

It's only fitting that the year bloggers hit the front row seats at womenswear fashion week a blogger would be one of the 24 lucky debutantes at the Crillon Ball. Plus Swide takes a closer look at the creation of a fairytale dress for Clint Eastwood's daughter, Francesca Eastwood.

The 24 debutantes at Bal Crillon des Debutantes in Paris.
Although we were secretly hoping he'd pay a visit - the rugged star of the silver screen Clint Eastwood stayed away from Bal Crillon des Debutantes in Paris held Saturday night as his daughter Francesca Fisher Eastwood, and wife actress Frances Fisher joined 24 debutantes and their gowns for the 9th annual event at the Crillon Hotel.
Like a scene from Gossip Girl - we can almost hear the coo-ing, as a veritable who's who from the the fashion world dressed the lucky twenty-four chosen ones. Francesca Eastwood and Frances fisher opted for Dolce & Gabbana,  Angelica Hicks wore vintage Lanvin, Carinthia Pearson an archive piece of Alexander McQueen whilst Autumn Whitaker (daughter of Forest) wore a Jason Wu gown. The moral of the story? Perhaps it's not always wise to opt for vintage or archive pieces.
It's reported the evening created its own set of real-life Cinderellas – debutantes who couldn’t hold onto their vintage couture dresses - reportedly having to return their show-stopping numbers to the designer’s archive.

Above - Designers Dolce & Gabbana created a real-life happy ending with a one-off dress especially for Francesca Eastwood.
Meanwhile fashion blogger, Jane Aldridge, documented the behind the scenes leading up to the ball in her blog seaofshoes.typepad.com.
