La Bola de Cristal (The Crystal Ball) was a Spanish TV Show that aired on TVE from 1984 to 1988[1]. The show was the brainchild of Spanish writer Dolores Rico Oliver (better known for her artistic name, Lolo Rico) and was conducted by pop singer Alaska. The show, which was ostensibly targeted at a young audience, reflected the spirit of the times, that of the post-Franco Spanish transition and of the cultural and musical movement known as la movida. In contrast to previous shows, with a very childish use of language, it had continuous puns related to electronics: the Electroduendes ("Electrogoblins") puppets included Maese Cámara, Hada Vídeo and Bruja Avería (the Breakdown Witch) as regular characters.

La Bola de Cristal also included slogans against authority and capitalism, with political satires that led the show to its cancellation in 1988. Before the cancellation order, at least one new season of La Bola de Cristal was planned, with Sonia Martínez as new conductress

Although it was never released on VHS video, in 2003 selected excerpts of the legendary show were released on DVD.

La bola de cristal fue un programa de Televisión Española emitido en los años 1980.

Dirigido por Lolo Rico, la primera emisión de La bola de cristal fue el sábado 6 de octubre de 1984, siendo su último año de emisión 1988. El programa contaba con varias secciones orientadas para diversas franjas de edad. Recibió dos premios «TP de Oro» al mejor programa infantil en los años 1985 y 1987.

Cabe destacar el continuo reconocimiento de diferentes sectores de la sociedad hacia este programa que se salía de la norma marcada por los programas infantiles de su época y otros más actuales, y que apostaba por tratar a los niños como personas adultas. La bola de cristal reflejaba el cambio sociopolítico que supuso la transición en España y la explosión cultural y musical conocida como la movida madrileña.
